Twitter is a Catalyser?

Twitter has again proven to be a powerful media. People all over the world was being updated of the news about the death of Osama Bin Laden. TechCrunch has a really good article today: Twitter Does Not Supplant Other Media, It Amplifies It.

“Twitter is not in and of itself a news source. Whoever is Tweeting is the source. But all it takes is one person to Tweet out news for it to spread faster than through any other medium. The person doesn’t have to be a journalist.”

This is so true, in all its simplicity. Twitter is a catalyser, “Something that causes activity between two or more persons or forces without itself being affected.” – it helps to facilitate people and other traditional or classical media-channels to spread and amplify their content in a simple way to massive amounts of people. As long as the message gives value to the receiver – it really works, beautifully. Twitter is a tool not to be underestimated. It has proven itself in many ways and has played a part in changing the world more than once.
